A variation on the “Tree of Life” motif, the wire tree is perched on a seashell foundation. • The soft colors of this necklace will be a charming complement to your wedding dress or bridesmaid’s ensemble, and it’s an ideal graduation or bridal shower gift for the woman who loves distinctive handmade jewelry. Add this piece to your prom ensemble, and you will surely shine! Give it as a gift for Easter, First Communion, or any special occasion where you want a meaningful reminder of how strong roots and faith can get you through the toughest of storms.

• While creating in my home that sits in a small Ohio River city, I carefully wrapped several lengths of copper wire around a seashell, using the natural contours to enhance the design of the tree roots. I then gathered the remaining wire at the top of each root, wove in several more lengths of wire, and fashioned the trunk of the tree. Using the remaining wires, I created the tree limbs, adding pearls in soft shades of peach, green, and ivory to create leaves. I sculpted each wire tree branch, taking considerable time to give them a natural-looking form. I wove a length of thicker wire into the tree limbs to form a cage for the bail, and then wove thinner wire around the cage to give a seamless natural appearance to the pendant’s overall design. I strung the pendant on a pearlescent, ivory-colored genuine leather cord and created copper wire coil ends and a hook-and-eye clasp to finish the necklace.

• Sculpted in a free-form fashion, this pendant is one-of-a-kind. The copper wire used in its creation is tarnish-resistant; so, it will retain its shine for years, but with time may darken in color, developing a natural patina. This patina is not like rust; it is not harmful to the metal. Many people admire the deeper color that can emerge after years of owning copper jewelry.

• From the professional workplace to a special date night, from that special weekend getaway to a homecoming dance, this versatile accessory complements you beautifully! It goes from daily dress to your Sunday best, and looks great with everything from jeans and a T-shirt to semi-formal wear. Let this lovely symbol of nature accentuate the beauty you possess.
